- Rhythm of the rain - Friday, June 16, 2006

'Tis the rhythm of the rain
Tapping, dancing, swirling
Li'l droplets fall in perfect beat
A symphony of their own

The smell of sweet roses
Deep breaths of fresh air
This intoxicating air never enough
Its refreshing gust a drug

Purity in its very essence
Its taste a sip of heaven
Cool and invigorating, every gulp
Adds happiness to the world

Cold to the touch
Sending shivers that delight
An urge to dance and sing
Grips one drenched in its might

Washing away all sorrows
The world is bright and fresh
A pleased eye, a gladdened heart
The soul lifted, spirits unbound

** yup. here it is. finally. something actually escaped my fingers this time when i put them on the keyboard. after like more than half a month of writers' block. i assure you writers' block is no fun. no more fun is trying to fight it off and trying to inspire yourself when the things that inspire you are too far away...ahwell, now that that's done with. weird how this poem got inspired. it was from the nick of one of my friends on msn. her nick was something like "rhythm of the rain falling". the alliteration and the meaning struck me at the time and although her nick has long since been changed, this phrase has stuck in my mind...just remembered it again today (at this unearthly hour of the night, i know..but i've had worse times for my muses to come dance in front of me enticingly, so no big deal), so i decided to see if i could conjure up something based on this phrase. so there's the result, far from perfect, as all my poetry is, a million things waiting to be done to it, which will be done when this same muse visits me again...but there you go, one after a long time...fresh from the oven!!
